THREE WHOLE ERRORS TODAY! It felt nice to not just have one silly mistake - I went into the last fill knowing full well there were some issue, and I was pleased to see it was only three.
This was probably my favorite puzzle of the week. The answers felt fresh and original - take for example NOSETOTAIL (I had HEADTOTAIL for a while), INRAREFORM, PINKSALT. Lots of long fills that felt original and it was a pleasure to solve.
I tried to begin in the upper left, quickly abandoned (originally had 'ALOE' as I misread 'tropical' for 'topical'). I think PINKSALT was my first fill, followed by PRESS (s/o to the news industry), and then AKIN, TONE, ERITREA. I had a loooottt of trouble with WORKMATE. I had BUNKMATE, DESKMATE, every kind of -mate that ended with a K but couldn't get my brain there. I wound up committing to DESKMATE, even though I knew 'LOGGEDEN' made zero sense.
All in all though, an absolute joy of a puzzle.
